The Hippopotamus (Hippopotamus amphibius) was housed in a lake at the centre of the zoo together with a group of Geoffroy's Spider Monkeys (Ateles geoffroyi), which lived on a an island. If I'm not mistaken, there were also some Capybaras (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris), sharing the lake with the others. This is an old photo from my visit to this zoo in 2005. As I didn't have a good camera or the 'right' experience in photography back then, the quality may be somewhat less than that of other more recent pictures I've taken
