The elephant house was built in 1927 and housed four elephants: Nellikuthra (between 1927-1944); Maharanee (between 1949-1961); Nirvana (1970-1973); Kamala (1953-1983). The elephant house was due to be demolished in 2010; but instead was refurbished into Kamala’s Pavillion (tuck shop).
