When I was there several years ago, a keeper told me one of the lionesses sometimes went for a swim. I would have loved to see that, but it didn't happen while I was at the exhibit.

With lions being generary wary of water, I have only seen them enter it once, at the Zoo Negara in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Although he didn't swim, the African male (they have both Asiatic and African, and next to each other on top of that, forbidden here in Europe at least) went well into the water.
