@MonkeyBat It is. I hadn't cried over a zoo enclosure in a long time, but this did it for me. They aren't even in the zoo, anyone can walk up to see them.
@TinoPup I might cry at it too. I don't know how this exhibit hasn't closed down or caught public attention by now, but considering I've never heard of this zoo I guess that's my answer.
@MonkeyBat It's near-ish Morgantown, which is really big, but it's still kind of rural/involves a lot of windy mountain roads so I don't think many non-locals put in the effort to visit. I had to go through WV to get home from Kentucky so decided to stop, since no one else here had.
What did the chimp do? I mean, the other exhibit for primates isn't world class but e.g for the gibbon or macaques I can at least see some effort and is just maybe acceptable. Why does this exhibit even exist.
@Great Argus That I don't know The other chimp exhibit is just as bad. I cannot fathom why they think keeping these old girls in these cages is acceptable. Both tried to interact with me a bit. They can't even see one another.
This is horrifying. But also, what is up with the multiple layers of fencing? Is there ever a time the chimp gets out of the barred cage and goes into the yard? Or never?
Also, you said they have two more chimps totally off-exhibit elsewhere?
