I have seen bigger fish ponds in peoples back gardens than these pools for

That is pretty pitiful and a major shock, coming from YWP, which has built a reputation for quality, very disappointing.
I'm guessing there are minimum standards allotted by the EEP for indoor housing and these are it!

Or its a case of what happens when your superb builders walk off-sight,part way through the build and refuse to come back.I think the builders that finished this should not be allowed to build another exhibit at YWP but as there previous builders are now working on the Malayan Tiger enclosure at Hamerton, and are not coming back anytime soon I suspect we can expect to see lower quality enclosures at YWP than we did before!

Saw this enclosure for myself for the first time on Sunday. The house is clearly a bit of a rush job, but the pools are a little bigger than they look here (and not that different to the equivalent at Chestnut!), and the viewing is good.

The outside enclosure is completely fine - or it will be when it's had a summer growing season - at the moment it looks rather barren because the grass and other planting has had no chance to take hold.

It's certainly not YWP's finest hour, but I think talk of some shocking fall from grace is a little overstating the fact (it's certainly more attractive than the bizarre squirrel monkey climbing frame, for instance!).

This area is only where the otters come to get food .I'm guessing it's done like this to make it more stimulating for the otters than eating out of a bucket or trough of dead fish .If the fish were put in the large outside area the seagulls would have them all in minutes ...i've watched them for several hours and have only seen them go in here briefly to get a fish to eat or bring it outside to eat

The pools are now empty of water, and have been for quite a few weeks. They are now filled with straw/hay so I assume they have been converted into the sleeping quarters from the previous feeding area.
