Iblis

Nice photo. His mane still doesn't compare to his predecessor 'Ashoka'. His mane is the most stunning I've seen on a male Asian/Indian Lion. The one that only comes close is Edinburgh's current male 'Royal'.

His name was Asoka, Ashoka was one of his brothers (different litter)

Sorry, wasn't to sure on spelling. :p - Ashoka was/is the male at Chessington? He has bred once but things at Chessington seem to have come to a holt.

Chessington might start breeding Asian Lions again at some point but it won't be with Ashoka (at least they won't be reccommended to breed with him again)

Bluetoffeezoo: Your picture is beautiful btw :D

On the contrary, a lot of the Chester line have had very nice manes. It's also worth having a look at the former Paignton male, Midas, and the males descended from him, such as Sohan at Ostrava and Chester's own Tejas, who looks rather majestic. Lucifer at London looks pretty good as well!

P.S. There are far too many 'Asok' type names that have come out of Chester, Ashok in '96, Ashok in '97, and Asoka in '98.

Very nice shot. (Years ago there was a very nice black maned lion at Chessington called Atlas. Also 2 females - Mary and Suzie)
