Javan Rhino

ID Please

Can anybody ID this rodent in the small mammal house? Apologies for the poor quality, but if anybody can help it will be much appreciated :)

It could be a dormouse. However, the pine cone and the twig covering the animal doesn't help identification, nor does the fact that it is out of focus :)

Zootierliste does mention Birmingham Nature Centre having woodland dormouse Graphiurus murinus, so I assume that is what this is.

I'd agree - this looks like a Graphiurus to me and they definitely had them as of December.

Thanks, will go with woodland dormouse as I don't remember photographing the Natal multimammate mouse :)

Like I say, apologies for picture quality, it was a bit sharper but had to really up the light and then reduce noise, so that made it a bit softer, though I've added Pallas' long-tongued bat to my photographed life list with a MUCH worse image :p

If you can wait till 16th March then let me know which display it was I will make a note of the species on my visit if that helps

You should see the abstract blob of white on blue and black that I've kept because I know the blob is a Leadbeater's Possum! Anyone else looking at it wouldn't even know it was an animal but can't bring myself to dispose of it.

Hehe, well my rule is that I have to photograph the animal for it to count on my life list, otherwise I'd be counting all sorts that probably aren't true going through zootierliste :p

@Adrian: Don't know which enclosure it was sorry.
