Illiger's Macaw, 26th September 2013

As far as I remember the species involved in the television attempt to stir up controversy in the late 1990s (broadcast when I was staying in Birmingham to visit Dudley).

What controversy?

It does look like it has deformed feet. Nibbled by parents while still in the nest?

What controversy?

The programme using a ficticious animal dealing company (called "Wildlife Direct" if I remember correctly) attempting to show that Federation collections would break the rules of the organisation by selling animals to all and sundry. A Puma bred at Dartmoor was the other specimen I recall being involved. Interestingly "Wildlife Direct" also rang Sewerby even though the zoo was not a member of the Federation asking if it had any small monkeys for sale. When "Wildlife Direct" was asked to send the zoo details about itself nothing more was heard.
