Male in South Pheasantry (opposite the entrance to the Bird House, the site is now part of he Children's Zoo), London Zoo, 17th July 1972. Scanned from a Kodachrome transparency.
The pair at ZSL were bred at Antwerp from descendants of Jean Delacour's original pair, hybridised with silver pheasants and Edward's pheasants and selected to resemble the original birds. Subsequently genetic studies have shown that Delacour's birds were natural hybrids between the same two species. See Animals You've Seen That Few Zoochatters Have Seen
