I kind of wish they kept them together more. I know the zoo has its reasons but its nice to see all of the rhino species in groups. Just makes for a more interesting and dynamic exhibit. Same reason I love mixed exhibits.
Come on Christmas 2015 calf... End of July 2014 + 16 months = another Christmas baby for the zoo. That would be nice.
Indeed, I love seeing them together, but with them being solitary in the wild, they'll eventually start getting annoyed with each other, leading to fights.
With enough space they can get along fine. San Diego exhibits a whole herd, 4-6 females, a bull and calves. They are not just exhibited together they have several different species that are exhibit mates. Granted they have a massive exhibit. Given the zoos space I know thats not practical.
Well, If the San Diego zoo has that much animals on exhibit at once, I'd kill to see it here. But for obvious reasons (space) we'll probably never see it.
They have 8 other species with them. Among their exhibit mates are gaurs, blackbucks, wapiti, axis deer, przewalski's horses, arabian oryx. Im not sure of the others. Preparing for a Rhino Debut
