Indianapolis Zoo - Polar Bear Exhibit

July 2008. Standard rocky terrain with a deep pool off to one side. There is quite a bit of land in this enclosure, but nothing at all spectacular.

This actually looks quite nice. They just need a patch that transtitions onto grass

This Indianapolis exhibit looks very similar to polar bear enclosures at zoos as diverse as Central Park, Pittsburgh, Toledo, Memphis and San Diego. Massive mock-rock formations, towering waterfalls coming from out of nowhere, a lack of substrate other than a couple of small digging holes, and a complete absence of a green substance called grass.:) Detroit's "Arctic Ring of Life" is so much better than any other polar bear complex in North America that it is disappointing that since 2001 no zoo has come up with anything superior to that AZA award winner.
