This barn is apparently 29,000 sq. ft. in size and the largest elephant building in North America, plus there are several acres outside for the elephants to roam. Whether it is the Lied Jungle, Desert Dome, Kingdoms of the Night (nocturnal house), 4-acre walk-through aviary, Expedition Madagascar, Butterfly & Insect Pavilion, Scott Aquarium or the new $73 million, 28-acre African Grasslands project...Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo continues to build enormous complexes and the facility is one of the world's truly great zoos. In the USA I would hazard the guess that there are only a handful of zoos that can compete with Omaha in terms of size, collection, popularity and prestige.
