@StoppableSan Obviously this exhibit isn't pretty, and its my understanding that this opened during the time of the former elephant, hippo, and rhino exhibits. To the left of this is another indoor exhibit (Including a keeper to animal area and another pool) which is viewable through a much smaller window. Although due to the heavy glare on the glass I was unable to get a good shot. I was told by the staff that the Zoo's female hippo prefers to stay in the indoor habitat (As shown above) for whatever reason.
@ZooNerd1234 You are correct, this portion of the indoor hippo exhibit was built in the late 1950s. At the time, state of the art- but now very lackluster and dated. Thankfully this area will be replaced with a new indoor facility as part of the final phase of Adventure Africa, set to start construction next year.
