I believe this used to house the Chimpanzee group. When I last visited in February I didn't see any Chimpanzees. I believe they were moved to Blair Drummond a month later.
AFAIK, they're 1.2. The original male ('Joe') died leaving his mate and his hand reared daughter who was re-mixed into the group later. A new male arrived from somewhere in Europe (Rome?) and now they have 1.2.
Since Jangoli departed the house has held Bactrian Camels, American Bison, Chimpanzees and now the Mangabeys.
It was Valencia wasn't it? I looked it up and posted it on another thread earlier this year. I remember it was in 2008 - just a minute I'll get my notebook. Yes, it came from Valencia on 13th March 2008. When I arrived for a visit the following day I found one of the head keepers cleaning the van used to transport it.
If they can get both female Mangabeys breeding with the unrelated male, they could potentially form a decent group. London started with only a trio and they now have 8-9 and they look good too- a very active group- the best in their Primate block.
