Indoor Penguin Exhibit

The Scott Aquarium at the Henry Doorly Zoo is impressive, and the penguin exhibit is one of the better ones in North America. The deeper than normal pool, the larger land size, and the snow pouring down from the roof all create as realistic an environment as is perhaps possible for these remarkable birds.

From the photo, it looks identical to similar exhibits in Cincinnati & Central Park. but like snowleopard says, this photo doesn't do it justice. The pool is deep (and the exhibit doesn't have as much of the usual splashes on the glass and crud like most exhibits do!) and also farther from the land than most exhibits of this type. The penguins genuinely have a lot of water--not just the illusion of it.

I could go on but I really love this exhibit and think it's one of the better penguin exhibits in the US that I've seen--both for the animals and the humans viewing them (as there are lots of great viewings not so good for the animals & vice versa).
