A nice photo Mhale . This is "Indus" in an uncharacteristic pose!! He was actually quite a "hectic / frantic" animal , indeed he did suffer somewhat in later life from stereotypical behaviours bless him. Z.
I'm not old enough to remember Indus (I was only 2 when he died in '96), but I certainly remember Tara till her death in October 2001. I remember people saying how unnatural it looked for her to be alone, but in my opinion she looked quite peaceful just watching the world go by from her restpoint.
I thought this was a nice pose. Of course, it has been a few years since the last lions were at Marwell. When I was there two weeks ago, it looked like the area of the old enclosure was being redeveloped.
Yes , the outside area is still probably going to be landscaped , obviously the old Lion House itself is the new Amphibian quarentine facility , it was originally planned to have some pond-dipping there but its not really advisable to attract more frogs to an area which is meant to be for quarentining frogs! So thats been shelved! Z.
