The old elephant house was extended with a new part a few years ago. The paddock outside the old house was built-in in the new house. Two elephant-cows gave birth to calves the same year, which led to a need of more space indoors. The barn is separated into two parts, one for the cows and one for the bull. The giraffes do also live in the house but do normally not have access to the new part, as they had when this picture was taken.
