The original plan was for a hexagonal walk-through aviary divided into four sections, with the path going through the larger two. Total area 360 sq m. The actual structure appears smaller and more rectangular, although that might be a false impression There is only one large section which the path goes around. The problem is that the path takes up quite a large fraction of the total area, so that the birds can only get away from the visitors by going into the shelter (the temple) or into the small aviary that they have access to. I think it is my least favourite part of Islands, although it will be better when the plants grow and the birds get tamer. The alternative would be to close the walk-through path.
