Isle of the Tiger - Left Exhibit

Taken 12/9/16. This complex of 2 adjoining exhibits containing Sumatran tiger opened in 2015. Both exhibits are viewed from a main viewing shelter with windows, through fences on both sides, and through a smaller shelter with a window for the left side (larger) exhibit.

The left exhibit shown here is larger and a bit more detailed than the right exhibit, but both feel a bit barren and haphazardly arranged on the site; I wonder if the tree stump seen here was intended to be a saved tree that died during construction or purposely cut and kept for scratching and marking, either way it dominates visually in a clumsy way. The fence lines are too straight so it feels like a pasture, and the main viewing shelter is too small for crowds, especially with columns interrupting its space. I think the project was value-engineered considerably, or they didn't get the project they paid for. It's a shame since the zoos new volunteer and administrative center and recent entrance upgrades are of high quality but this actual animal exhibit is mediocre.
