Jaguar Coffee House Earthworks

Earthworks across the path from the Jaguar Coffee House (in the space between the path and the canal).

No idea what this is going to be, but suggestions put forward were a new decking area for more tables and chairs, or a new water bus terminal. There was a water bus halt roughly in this area (opposite where the picnic area is now) in the 1970s, so it does make sense.

It would be good if it were a waterbus terminal, since it could work as a relaxing way to get from A to B like the monorail is.

The waterbus did originally have mutliple stops - over the years they have dwindled!

That's what I mean, there is only the one now so maybe it would be good to put another one back somewhere so that it can be used to get from one end of the zoo to the other.

They have a waterbus as well as a monorail? I am sooo looking forward to my visit in September. Now I wish I had two days there instead of just the one I have scheduled.

Two days is definatly better than one :D. However, it is possible to get around and see all of the major attractions in a day. It may take longer if you like spending a good 15-30 mins at each enclosure, or looking in every single aviary or vivarium. That is my downfall :D

What if I spend four hours at the jaguar exhibit? :D:D:D

You wouldn't be the only one :D. The Spirit of the Jaguar is overall my favourite exhibit at the zoo (though my fave animals are the black rhinoceros). But yes, the SoJ is not to be missed.

Coral and Wanetta can be easy to spot in the waterfall enclosure if you get near a talk or feeding time, Salvador and Sophia aren't too bad since they live in the desert side with far less foliage, however the black jaguar Pele is difficult to spot unless you are lucky with timing (he is in the rainforest side, which is very heavily planted and he has a habit of pacing up the back and down one side).

This might be heading a little off-topic, perhaps if you have any more questions about Chester you could PM me and I'll do my best to answer :).

If your visit is early September (before September 6th) the zoo is open for an additional hour. There are keeper talks outside the jaguars on Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons, sometimes with a feed.

When the kids are at school the water bus is only supposed to run at the weekends, but I see it all the time.

Thanks for the tip, but I won't be there until September 21. If either of you use the bus to get there from town center, perhaps you could PM me with details (if not, I am sure I can find it online).
