Walking underneath a gigantic fallen tree is a thrill for visitors, and immediately people are immersed in the world of South America's largest cat. To the left of the photo is the viewing area for the covered den, the centre is the main exhibit window, and to the right is the deep pool. The rotating pair of jaguars are only ever seen by glass, with no mesh or uncovered observation points.

Can someone help me out? How big is this exhibit and how many viewing areas does it have? I went here in 2005 (i think) and I think I got lost around this area and came across the Jaguar exhibit. I just remember a huge line of glass windows and a large pool with waterfalls and lush plants. Where is this pool, because i see different pictures, and where is this? Could someone settle my confusion?

The exhibit is 4000 square feet. I believe there are three viewing areas (The cave, this wide window, and the underwater viewing). Looking into the exhibit from these windows the pool would be on the right, and it is where the stream in this photo flows into.

The jaguar exhibit is 4,000 sq. ft. in size, and here is the 2-page press release for the award-winning "Jaguar Cove":

The viewing areas are all of glass, and there are opportunities to see inside a covered, den-like area, a long view of the main part of the enclosure (shown in the above photo), and into the 4-foot deep pool. The waterfall and pool are to the right of the photo, and there must be at least 50 shots of this exhibit in the ZooChat gallery.

huh, interesting, apparently I missed half the enclosure.... guess I have to go back to Seattle some day.

@Otter Lord: how did you miss half the enclosure? This spectacular jaguar exhibit could well be reason #1 to visit the Woodland Park Zoo, but the orangutan, grizzly bear, river otter, gorilla and other brilliant immersion habitats are all worthwhile as well.:) The new Humboldt penguin exhibit is also a potential award-winner, and the only recent downside to the zoo is that the excellent Night Building (Nocturnal House) is going to permanently close in the next few months.
