Jaguar exhibit

June 2009 - I like the size of the exhibit, but I think it needs a LOT more trees for shade. There was only one tree and the small cave that gave the jaguar enough shade from the hot sun.

The jaguar exhibit in Seattle is understandably much more lush in the rainy climate, but the 4-foot deep pool, waterfall, large den area and lush plantings overshadows the seemingly average enclosure in this photo. Even San Diego's other jaguar exhibit, down in one of the canyon areas of the zoo, is arguably almost as large and has probably much thicker vegetation than the new exhibit recently opened there. It simply appears to be far too barren for a large cat that enjoys a thick, oppressive jungle atmosphere.

Sorry but this exhibit is a lot larger than their canyon enclosure. The canyon enclosure was a couple hundred square feet while this enclosure is the size of the Amur leopard exhibit at Russia's Grizzly Coast. It also has a second enclosure on top of the bedrooms.

This exhibit is way larger than the other Jaguar exhibit, but the other one has more vegetation than this one. This exhibit is not that bad, all it needs is more foliage.

I actually really like this exhibit, they seem to have lots of space and climbing oppurtunities. Once the foliage thickens out, I think it'll be really nice

This exhibit has potential, but there is very poor use of the vertical space now. Why didn't they add more dead trees to take advantage of all the area now essentially wasted? It will be very hard/impossible to add to it now that it is open and occupied.

The old canyon exhibit actually had better jaguar perching space above the heads of visitors, with good views for the jags that will not be possible in this flatter space here.

I agree.

One of the main problems with EO is that the foliage hasn't grown in yet, and there isn't enough of it. I expect that to improve in most of EO's exhibits as time goes by.

As somebody who generally likes elephant odyssey more than most others, I still find the cat enclosures incredible disappointing over a decade after the exhibit opened.
