I'm fairly certain that it is a glass partition to stop visitors from climbing up onto the roof of the ruins. However, it would probably make a great future exhibit for something like an agouti or acouchi, or even larger species.
I'm just browsing through the pictures and I want to add that I'm pretty sure they have a tegu there, although it's hard to see because this little exhibit is actually really high off the ground.
