Japanese Macaque Exhibit #2

August 15, 2024
Didn't expect Japanese macaques to be somewhat common in Indonesia, are they like the most common exotic primate there besides probably ring-tailed lemurs?

@NATY I only saw Japanese Macaques at 3 zoos out of 59 on my Southeast Asian trip. Surabaya, Bandung and Bogor, all in Indonesia.

@NATY tamarins and marmosets (And also tufted capuchin) overall are quite common exotic primates here, lemurs came in second, and baboons (Mandrill and hamadryas baboon) came in third. Japanese macaques are in fourth in five zoos (Siantar, Medan, Cisarua, Bandung, and Surabaya).
