javelina on bike path

April 30, 2020, Santa Cruz River Bike Path, Tucson, Arizona.
How long did you stay on this path? Do you reckon it's easy to see wildlife around there? Over here, I have a fox who visits my backyard a lot (as well as a Grey squirrel family) and a few Blue, Great, Coal tits and the odd Firecrest (and of course woodpigeons, ravens and magpies) but apart from that....

Central London may well be the least biodiverse area on the planet :(

People see javelinas quite often if they live near a wash (what we call dry rivers), and the largest one (Santa Cruz River) is immediately left of the railing. However since I live downtown I don't see them often, but thanks to extra time off from Covid-19 I am going out more and seeing more. I was on the path for about an hour and half at the spot overlooking the coyote den (with no luck, though I saw the adults several times). As I was walking back to my car along the bike path I came across a herd of five javelinas that were quite "tame" (for lack of a better word) and followed them at close range for about half an hour.

How common is it to see javelinas during the day like this? I thought that the wild ones in the Southwest were primarily nocturnal (at least all footage I've seen of them was at night).

No they are active day or night. Early morning or late afternoon are more common as with many animals. This was morning, though about two hours after sunrise.
