Do you also happen to know where he was exhibited. I'm guessing the killer whale exhibit but I wasn't alive at this time so I'm not sure where the orcas were placed and what spots were open.
Wow! They actually had a baleen whale in there?! That's some Zoo Tycoon stuff right there!
So, was it rehabilitated and released or something?
Though in all honesty, considering how difficult it already is to keep toothed whales, do any of you think that baleen whales could ever be kept successfully in captivity for, let's say, over 10 years?
@Ninja Penguin@BigNate she was held in the current orca tank, the large one off to the side of the stadium with underwater viewing, back then the exhibits had rock and seaweed, kinda sucks that it doesn’t anymore. @JigerofLemuria JJ was a young orphaned grey whale who was taken in by SeaWorld when she washed up on shore. I believe she was there for three years where she was rehabilitated. She was returned during the normal grey whale migration and is still alive and well. She was very young when she was there so I doubt a baleen whale of her size could be kept for that long. Good news is SeaWorlds rescue facility is still open so if another young grey whale washes up we could have the opportunity to see it before it is released.
