Oh btw my stepmum when was telling her about him and how he's lived in four countries in his long life (PNG, USA, UK & Aus) suggested he may of been named or more likely renamed when he arrived at London Zoo because of coming there from Dallas Zoo, that his name was likely a homage to the character J.R Ewing from the tv show Dallas set in titular city that was popular at the time in UK, Aus, NZ, Canada etc too not just the in the U.S. Was a greedy oil baron in show the character, so not greatest compliment to our JR but probably just a bit of English humour for receiving him from there and him having spent a fair few years living at Dallas Zoo.
Complete conjecture on my end but surmise with sense of almost complete certainty that he lived in the Clore Pavillion Small Mammals & Nocturnal House while living at London Zoo.
