They basically just demolished the old exhibit,put in grass and planted a tree .For Columbus standards not very impressive at all.

That's because its not for black rhinos. They are planned to move to heart of Africa when phase 2 is done. Indians rhinos will take their place.

It would make sense for the Pachyderm Building to have Indian rhinos (or Sumatran- dream on) and Asian elephants because the Pachyderm is located just outside of Asia Quest. If the zoo actually went with their plans about phase 2 of Heart of Africa (getting African elephants, moving the black rhinos, and maybe even hippos) it would be good to add Indian rhinos. The zoo would then have two elephant species (African bush and Asian) and two rhino species (black and Indian). A dream would be for African forest elephants to be added to Congo. If only.

One of the main reasons they did this renovation is to start allowing visitors to partake in rhino encounters with more ease.
