I'm not sure species it will hold and I'm not even sure they will stay on that island. I'm worried about this exhibit because if they are stuck there, my respect for the zoo will go down a lot.

That looks horrible if they have to live there fulltime. I hope they have access to the hoofstock yard. Its weird that the hoofstock area looks done but is not opening to next summer? Maybe the holding areas are not done

The worker told me that the zoo is debating whether or not they will clip the vultures. After hearing this I told hom that it wasn't a good idea to keep them on the island. He then made fun of me acting as though I was concerned they would easily escape and attack me. So I'm hoping he wasn't a reliable source.

You are right, the fencing, holding areas, and having the the animals is not all there.

My guess is that the island will be a holding area with clipped birds.

I don't see why they need a separate island for the vultures anyway. The birds mixed in with the hoofed stock in the old veldt display. Vultures, marabou storks, crowned cranes and bustards all had access to the same common area as the giant eland and zebras.

I really hope it isn't. If it is true, I hope their moat won't stop them from going over it. Next week I will have to talk to someone about this. I'm a volunteer there in landscaping so I pretty much could just walk past the gates without question. Besides our department already is working in Africa so I've got a pretty good preview of what it will be. Well anyways I will find out if it is true or not and hope that my pointers will change somebody's mind about this.
