Jun. 2025 - Jungle Trails - White-handed Gibbon Exhibit (New to this Habitat)

This exhibit has displayed a number of different species over the years.

When I was growing up it was home to Buff-cheeked Gibbons, who were later moved to Gibbon Islands, and then moved back somewhere else in Jungle Trails many years later.

Then, from what I remember, rotated Angolan Colobus and Grey's crowned guenons.

Then sifakas rotated with the guenons.

Then sifakas full time for many years. Sifakas later moved down the path.

Then back to Angolan colobus and guenons.

Now white-handed gibbons. One male that lived with the zoo's Orangutan, and a new female that just arrived.

So as it stands, this habitat and it's connected indoor exhibit could rotate the gibbons, colobus (if they're still there), guenons, and two female black howlers.

The sifakas are in an outdoor enclosure before the bonobos.

I saw the guenons outside twice, and inside once this year. If the guenons were outside, the howlers were inside. However, based on what I've seen in person and on social media, the white-handed gibbons have access to both indoor and outdoor spaces. As of this second, they are outside, but nothing is occupying the indoor aeea.
