This is an indoor exhibit, lit from unseen skylights.

As I recall, the animals do have access to an outside exhibit (OK, a large planted out cage, really)

Not really a very accurate background as in India they live in dense evergreen rainforest and are quite shy so are not found around buildings and temples as with Rhesus Macaques or Grey/Hanuman Langurs. I suppose this could be an abandoned temple in a rainforest though...

They were not the original inhabitants of this space. There have been 2-3 other primate species displayed here over the years.

Douc Langurs were the original intended inhabitants.

I've never actually seen the macaques in this exhibit. They've always been in their outdoor exhibit.
