They live in a modern but very uninspiring enclosure-an expanse of sloping bare ground(they have eaten all the grass), and long wooden platforms to represent 'cliffs'. No attempt at naturalising things more- I think tall rock piles would have been much better to show this spectacular species to much better advantage..Colchester specialise in enclosures backed by 'fake' rock but ironically there is none in the one enclosure which would benefit from it. A real 'lost opportunity' and I felt this was probably Colchester's worst recent enclosure. It somehow demonstrates to me they have little understanding of the species' real habitat/requirements

Seriously- they could. Or use a base of big boulders as a framework instead. They badly need a big rocky structure in the enclosure to make it more like the cliffs Geladas live/sleep on in the wild.
