Jurong Bird Park opened its gates on 3 January 1971, even before the Singapore Zoo (which opened in 1973). This year not only marks its golden jubilee, it could well be its last full year of operations at its current location. Barring any further delays, the bird park is expected to make the great migration to its new premises in Mandai sometime in 2022. And with the move, the name "Jurong Bird Park" will probably become history too.
