something that has never occurred to me before seeing this picture: if you are standing/floating in water and you grab an electric fence, what happens?
Didn't occur to me when I wrote the description, I guess. I've seen crab-eating macaques several times, but I'm not sure I've ever managed to see them swim.

I have never seen them swim either. I know that Givskud Zoo built their exhibit in the hopes that the macaques would swim in the moat. Unfortunately the macaques seem to find the water too cold and the large carps to scary. They to sometimes wade through the shallow areas but never swim.
