Juvenile Big-Headed Turtle (Platysternon sp)

Two juveniles currently on exhibit in the RepTopia classroom.

Owing to the recent split into three distinct species in the genus Platysternon, the curator informed us that genetic data of all 3 big-headed turtles & Chinese giant salamanders in Mandai’s collection are being assessed by the Zoological Society of London to determine which species they belong to respectively.

Big-Headed Turtle was born Is it Mandai?

@Flat headed cat I suspect they were most likely confiscations from a smuggling attempt into Singapore. Mandai has only had a single adult male since 2010, prior to the appearance of the 2 babies.

Regarding all this I do wonder how the breeding of these fellas is going to come into play, gotta respect all the work that goes on behind the scenes
