Nice shot.
According to ZIMS, all 3 Kakas at Stuttgart are females (the youngest one was born at the zoo in 2003). I wonder if there's any chance of getting New Zealand to part with a couple of males?

A very nice shot indeed :) did you manage to see all three individuals? The oldest one - mother to the other two - looked on her last legs when I visited in April 2015.

I believe Stuttgart has been trying to get hold of males ever since their last one died, but have been stonewalled at every turn.

Thanks, Dave & Mike, for your kind comments about the photograph :)

I only saw two, not three, kaka on this trip to Stuttgart and that necessitated numerous visits to their aviary on several different days as these parrots rarely show themselves.

I also saw only two (about 5.30pm on the Saturday). There was a whole crowd of international zoo nerds admiring them! :D

Took me several visits to their aviary over the course of the day before I saw them, too :D considering how hot it was, the repeated walking back and forth somewhat took it out of us! But I saw them in the end, so it was all worth it.

Very nice photo of a very pretty parrot. I don't know that we have these in any American zoos.
