Thanks a lot for this very fine series of pictures from Kansas City Zoo! I liked it a lot. Many highly impressive exhibits (chimps, gorillas, cheetahs, elephants etc) and only a couple of really bad ones (tigers and orangutangs).
Glad you like them. The very good africa section makes up the vast majority of the zoo, so yeah, most of the exhibits are at least good. If one wants to count Africa! as one exhibit, it is one of the best I've been to. Their non-african collection isn't strong though and the zoo wouldn't be worth attending if africa is closed.
The book "America's Best Zoos" ranks the Kansas City Zoo as the #1 zoo in the United States for African animals, which is saying a lot because there are many great zoos with impressive African areas. The total area for Africa is 95 acres, and I've never visited the zoo but the photos show some tremendously large animal habitats. The elephant paddock is 4.5 acres and the chimpanzee exhibit is 3 acres, plus there are hundreds of other animals in this section of the zoo.
