They do look small and unsightly, but how have you dictated that as the average standard for these zoos? Have you visited many of those which you're judging?
Again, I just ask you to be a little open-minded when looking at limited selections of photos and passing dramatic judgment on entire nations.
There are some excellent zoos in central Europe as far as I can see and the exceptions seem to prove the rule. I've been pretty impressed with what I have seen on here from Poland and Czech Republic in particular.
