Kea Exhibit

April 2009.
*shudder*

I have just been reading 'Kea, Bird of Paradox' by Diamond and Bond. Keas are birds of alpine meadows and southern beech woodlands. I'm sure they would do better with some softer substrate. Is there any water feature here?

This is part of the zoo that should be torn down, and this particular cage has held a variety of animals over the years. The enclosure was built in 1951 and once held Pallas' cats. There is a small pool, but it is of no consequence in such a rocky environment.
