The zoo has a Beads for Wildlife programme, whereby beadwork made by village ladies in Kenya are sold in the zoo shop to fund programs in Kenya, particularly to help the Grevey's Zebra, and these huts are to illustrate the conditions they are coming from. Others might have more info to add
