I like how the chalky earth of their enclosure matches the color of their skins, which of course is affected by their contact with it. I think this is the closest match I have seen from photos!
With the mudbanks in the background and the many rocks as potential scratching posts this white rhino exhibit looks to be one of the better enclosures at this small zoo. The book "America's Best Zoos" ranks Erie as having one of the 10 best children's zoos in the nation, but there is also some mega-fauna on display as well throughout the park.
Yes, I would say this is one of the better parts of the zoo. You can go on the balcony of the building right next to it and get an overview of this exhibit. However, the zebra exhibit right next to it with chain fencing around it and gravel flooring leaves something to be desired.
