If the young-earth creationist view that all the millions of modern animal species are descended from only a few thousand “kinds” of animal from around 6000 years ago were true, then it would mean that evolution (or “micro-evolution” as they would call it) works at an extremely fast rate, and we would constantly be discovering new animals all over the place as different populations of animal would be rapidly mutating into distinct species.
