King penguins (Aptenodytes patagonicus) and trouts (Salmo sp.)

Can trouts survive in salt water?
Can penguins survive in fresh water?

yes and yes.

Though the trouts probably don't survive that long in this water. Interesting enrichment though (which would be illegal in the European Union)...

Who said the penguins swim in saltwater at zürich Zoo ?

@ Yes, european zoos outside od switzerland are stupid, I know. But it is allowed to feed live fish-Duisburg is doing that with his river dolphin, and he loves it to hunt and catch the trouts.Of course they don't... But I think, the trouts are too big for the penguins.
