All of a sudden the herd moved from the right most corner of the habitat to the bottom left corner. It shocked even the most elephant savvy people to see them on the move so unexpectedly.
Unrelated, but why exactly did the zoo choose the name Kirby for their youngest elephant? Personally, it has baffled me ever since the announcement of her birth.
@Austin the Sengi word of mouth says she was named after Kirby Drive. Yes, the street. Which itself got its name from a gentleman named John Henry Kirby. I’m struggling to find any connection to elephants in that explanation but it’s an explanation nonetheless.
Either that or the keeper who named her is just a really big Nintendo fan.
