Behind the green walls is the aviary shown here, now home to North Island Brown Kiwi:

The landscaping has not changed much but it is now a nocturnal exhibit viewed from covered holes in the wall. We didn't see a kiwi (having seen them at the last two attempts - Frankfurt, Avifauna - we were due a failure!).
