February 2011. Sign listing the number of eggs incubated and hatched at Willowbank as part of the Operation Nest Egg project, in which Willowbank is one of the major players. The South Island species in the programme hatched at Willowbank are the Okarito brown kiwi (aka rowi) ([i]Apteryx rowi[/i]), Haast brown kiwi (aka Haast tokoeka) ([i]Apteryx australis[/i] "Haast") and great spotted kiwi (aka roaroa) ([i]Apteryx haasti[/i]). The park also keeps and breeds North Island brown kiwi ([i]Apteryx mantelli[/i]).
