This one was part of a litter of four - two of them were Kings. I think they were the last litter, born a few years ago. Maybe Jarkari can conform this?
They're a pattern mutation unique to Southern Africa. Once thought to be a different species/subspecies, they are essentially just a cheetah with a different coat.
Thanks all, a little more useful information to try and retain. Arizona Docent I wonder if they appear more readily than white tigers/lions is they look quite normal where as white youngsters would stand out and be less likely to make it in the wild? just a thought.
Also AD i hope you enjoy your forthcoming visit to our shores, I have an E pal who is coming over about the same time, she lives in Sierra Vista Arizona, it seams you folk must like our early spring weather..........
