Thanks AD! It was the best I could do - the wire fence was is in full sun and we had to stand 3 metres (10 feet) back.

I love the pattern on these guys. How long has this cheetah been at Dubbo? And was the last king cheetah in Australia at The National Zoo?

This one was part of a litter of four - two of them were Kings. I think they were the last litter, born a few years ago. Maybe Jarkari can conform this?

Are King Cheaters a recognised sup species or just a genetic quirk like the white lions/tigers?

They're a pattern mutation unique to Southern Africa. Once thought to be a different species/subspecies, they are essentially just a cheetah with a different coat.

Yes, analagous to white lions or tigers, although they seem to occur naturally in the wild at a slightly higher rate than the former two.

Thanks all, a little more useful information to try and retain:). Arizona Docent I wonder if they appear more readily than white tigers/lions is they look quite normal where as white youngsters would stand out and be less likely to make it in the wild? just a thought.
Also AD i hope you enjoy your forthcoming visit to our shores, I have an E pal who is coming over about the same time, she lives in Sierra Vista Arizona, it seams you folk must like our early spring weather..........;)
