I use hairspray, what helps to make it a bit more solid, although the main reason is to make the feather more "waterproof", otherwise, the water contained on the paint would make it disseminate on the barbules. But I still have to find a better way, the hairspray vanish too easily with the touch, you can see some "waves" around the painting due the humidity of the paint (and I hate the smell ).
