WOW ! Thank you for this photo ! How is this subspecies doing, are there still any left in the wild ? And how about the captive population, is it still bred at Tel Aviv Zoo and howmany are there at the Meir Segals Garden ?

I don't remember about any breeding success over the last years. There are about 6 birds in Israel in captivity including a pair in Meir Segal Garden. I don't know about the wild population.

@alexkant, the "subspecies" negevensis is as far as I can determine part of the Arabian Peninsula lappet-faced vulture population (there are significant numbers nesting in KSA and they range east towards Oman and the United Arab Emirates. All part of the same population.

Do You know per chance what other facilties maintain further birds of the Negev population in captivity? Would that be Jerusalem's Biblical Zoo, the Tel Aviv Uni Birds of Prey Center or Hai Bar Yotvata in the southern Negev (on the road deep south to Elat)? Any further info?
