Laysan albatross

The MBA has a Laysan albatross female, supposedly the only one in captivity. She has a permanent wing malfunction and cannot be released in the wild. She was 8 years old when this photo was taken in June 2014. Albatrosses can live to be 50+ years old, so she may be at the MBA for a long time.

She comes out on her cart once a day for a demonstration and conservation talk about her very cool species.
